| Historic stonewalls. Each stone was individually spilt, so that a flat stone face faces out. 2 walls were constructed back to back sloping gently towards the center , no mortar was used. These stonewalls are on both sides of the street running in front of several properties, it took over 4 years to build. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. | Our shop was originally built in 1783 as a schoolhouse and called the "The Academy". After the school closed, it was used as a church, townhall, and private theater for plays and other entertainment. It was moved from it's original site at the end of the road to where it is now in 1926. We will be adding another page shortly on the interesting and famous owners it has had in it's past. |
